Week six of the NFFA’s 25th season is shaping up to be a blockbuster. All four intra-divisional matchups this week carry significance.
The game of the week features the undefeated Village Green (5-0) visiting the one-loss Boca Chica Daddies (4-1). The Green and Daddies sit atop the Linardo division. The Green can open up a two-game lead with a win, while the Daddies can pull into a tie with the Green with a victory.
The top two teams in the Jorge division also meet this weekend with the second-place London Bakers (2-3) traveling to the division-leading East Nashville Black Dogs (3-2). The dynamic is the same as with the Green-Daddies game. The Black Dogs have an opportunity to open up a two-game lead over the Bakers with a win, while a Bakers’s victory would lift them into a tie with the Dogs.
The other game in the Linardo division features the 3-2 Ballers traveling to Seattle to face the 3-2 Puget Browns. If the Daddies lose to the Green, the winner of this matchup will move into a tie for second place in the division.
The Jorge division’s other intra-division game features two teams that seem to be cursed — the 0-5 Cambridge Animals versus the 0-5 West Nashville Beelzebubbas. As the defending champions, the Beelzebubbas of course are dealing with the Curse of the Champion. But these two teams have had a long-running feud that had included Animals owner Dave the Animal putting the “mother of all curses” on the ’Bubbas and Bubbas owner Meta World Death responding with the “grandmother of all curses.” At least one insider speculates that the two feuding franchises are trapped in a curse vortex of their own making. Whether they are trapped in a curse vortex or not, one of them will get their first win of the season this weekend — unless they tie, which would lend further credence to the curse-vortex theory.
